Tampa man lets 15-year-old son drive because he was too drunk, charged with child neglect

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A man has been charged with child neglect after letting his 15-year-old son drive because he was too drunk.

Hillsborough County deputies stopped 41-year-old Darran Foraker's Dodge Caravan on Saturday night because its brake lights were out. That's when they discovered the van was being driven by Foraker's son.

The father told deputies he was too drunk to drive and didn't have money to stay at a hotel because he spent it all on alcohol. He also told deputies he was too drunk to care for the teen.

Deputies arrested the man and took him to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he was held on $2,000 bail.

It was not clear who took custody of the teen.
