Holy heist! Extremely old Bibles reported stolen from Lee County home

A thief made off with two very old Bibles Wednesday morning when they burglarized a North Fort Myers house.

The Bibles, one from the 1700s, the other from the 1800s, were valued at $100, according to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office report.

The burglary occurred sometime between 9 a.m. and noon in the 1800 block of Lakeview Boulevard.

Dennis Dapcic, 63, told deputies he arrived home Wednesday and found the front and back doors open. He thought his wife had accidentally left them open and went inside. He frequently leaves the backdoor open.

On Thursday, his wife, whose name was not in the report, noticed some jewelry missing. The total value of jewelry, including rings and a pearl necklace, was estimated at $7,700.

Dapcic found a safe deposit box containing savings bonds, birth certificates and Social Security cards also missing, according to the report.

He then called deputies to report the thefts.
