Learn about pet care at the Marco Island library

— Children in the 1st through 4th grades are welcome to participate in My Pet Fluffy, an interactive program where children will examine what makes a good pet and what all animals need to survive, then make a pet puppet. The event takes place at the Marco Island Branch Library at 2 p.m., Friday.

Katherine Hemmat, the children’s librarian at the Golden Gate Branch Library in Naples, said, “It gives the students something to do over the summer that’s free and it will familiarize them with what makes a good pet.”

The event is organized by the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples. Hemmat noted that activities like this will help local children become familiar with museum activities and procedures for when C’mon opens in February of 2012.

Registration to this free event is required and may be completed by visiting www.colliergov.net/library or by calling the Marco Island Branch Library at (239) 394-3272. The Marco Island Branch Library is located at 210 S. Heathwood Drive in Marco Island.
