Editorial: Clinic pricing Public postings allow better-informed decisions

Good news, we believe, for users of walk-in clinics in Florida.

They are being required to post prices for the 50 most common procedures used by patients.

That ought to mean fewer surprises and maybe even a modest sense of competition, though when you are sick you just want relief and may not shop around to save a buck or two.

Still, it might help avoid sticker shock when it is too late — after services have been rendered.

A perfect system? No way, as treatments often are more complicated than they sound at first and can vary among age groups.

One size might not fit all.

But a step toward more transparency and accountability? Yes, indeed.

Just what the doctor ordered.
