GREENACRES, Fla. — Bomb squad members responded to a Palm Beach county home after a resident reported finding a grenade in her backyard.
Greenacres police say the woman uncovered a World War II-era grenade Wednesday morning while digging behind her home. Police evacuated surrounding homes, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office bomb squad moved in.
The bomb unit determined the grenade was inert and disposed of it safely.
There was no indication where the grenade came from or how it became buried in the backyard.
