Man accused of robbing Naples bank identified, arrested

Naples police identified, and then arrested the man who they say robbed a Wachovia bank over the weekend.

Gregory Lee Martin, 49, was located in Naples and arrested around 6:20 p.m. Thursday. His exact charges were not immediately available. Details of the arrest were also not released.

Naples police spokesman Lt. John Barkley would only say that a lead was developed, and Marco Island police helped run it down.

Martin entered the bank at 820 Park Shore Drive about 11 a.m. Saturday, walked to the teller booth and displayed a handwritten note to the teller, police said. The note contained writing that demanded money. There were no weapons displayed during the robbery.

The teller gave Martin U.S. currency from her teller station, and he left the bank.

Martin, whose exact address was not released Thursday, has ties to Key West, Tampa and Boynton Beach, Barkley said.
