It’s exciting to see all the positive changes taking place in East Naples. It’s becoming the “happening place” and more people are noticing it all the time. Let me just mention a few marvelous things we can see taking place around us.
First, and it warms my heart to say this, the fountains are again flowing at the entrances to Treviso Bay. Just that water flowing ever so beautifully says progress is moving forward. With Lennar Homes now taking over for the terrific family who began the project, we should see the wonderful assets to Treviso Bay preserved, such as the only PGA certified TPC golf course within a 100-mile radius. Also, my guess would be that the shell of what was to be an ultra-gorgeous clubhouse will be completed and operational in a year or so. Also, with Lennar moving forward, I truly believe the residential sales will abound, and who knows, maybe even a little commercial retail will be built in the land set aside for that purpose.
The property immediately to the west is the Sabal Bay project, which is moving forward as I write. Instead of a golf course community, as originally planned, it will designed with less homes (originally it was permitted for 4,000 residential units, then reduced to 1,999, and now reduced to 1,600 dwelling units) and walking and hiking paths. More of a back-to-nature type development. There might even be a hotel in the future, but that idea is still just floating around. They will also move forward with phase 2 of the commercial section along U.S. 41 East. My goodness, with Sabal Bay, Treviso Bay, Lely Golf Estates, Lely County Club Estates, Eagle Creek and Lely Resort all in the same area, retail and commercial should flourish!
And then, on top of all that, another development is beginning to move through the process in East Naples. It will be located along the east side of Collier Boulevard, just south of Davis Boulevard. It will be a few years before we see that one coming out of the ground because there is a tremendous amount of environmentally-sensitive land involved which must be preserved, but the developer is working through all the permitting with state and county agencies.
You think that’s all? Nope! Shortly the new Taco Bell will be opening at the corner of Lakewood Boulevard and U.S. 41 East, and I’m sure you’ve noticed extensive work has begun on the new 5 Guys Burgers and Fries in the old Grecian Gardens building. My mouth waters just thinking of their great food. Of course Boston’s (the top selling restaurant in their nationwide chain) and Tony’s Texas Bar-B-Q have already opened.
On top of all that, the Bayshore Cultural and Performing Arts (CAPA) Association Center Inc. has placed a first option to buy on property along Bayshore Drive to build a cultural and performing arts center to focus on local (and I might add – marvelous) performers and talents such as the Naples Orchestra and Chorus, Naples Concert Band, Paradise Coastmen Barbershop Chorus, Stu Shelton and Bob Zottola’s Jazz Ensembles, plus visual artists and theater groups such as Naples Ballet, Bach Ensemble, Naples Music Club and Flute Cocktail. They are now looking for their benefactor to make this wonderful dream a reality for all of us to enjoy!
Keep watching...I’m sure there is more to come!
