ORLANDO — A Central Florida woman has been jailed after authorities say she beat her in-laws' pet dog to death with a baseball bat.
Authorities say 24-year-old Evita Williams is facing charges of burglary, grand theft and animal cruelty. The woman told a witness to the beating that the dog had bitten her 4-year-old son.
Authorities say the Casselberry woman broke into a bedroom of the in-laws' home last week, stole the family's 14-year-old pet dog Ginger, and then beat it to death. The dog, a golden retriever/Labrador retriever mix, had been in poor health.
While they were at it, authorities also arrested her husband, Richard Franklin Williams, on unrelated charges of dealing in stolen property and fraud. Both were being held in the Seminole County Jail.
