Lee deputies looking for bee-napper

— Lee deputies are on the search for a bee-naper.

On Monday, Wayne Thomas Dodd, 38, of Cape Coral, called deputies and said someone had stolen his honey bees, according to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office report.

Dodd, a Cape Coral firefighter, told police he last saw the hives June 27 at a lot near Milwaukee Boulevard and Naples Avenue in Lehigh Acres where he keeps them.

When he returned on Monday afternoon, the honey bees, which were in nine pallets of six hives each, were missing, according to the report.

The bees and their hives, valued at $8,100, are registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture. The registration numbers are FL0360605D and FL0360606C, DC.
