A North Naples diamond broker will not face charges after he was arrested on two fraud counts in December.
Naples police arrested William M. Mills, 36, last year after two parties — a couple buying an engagement ring and a downtown Naples jewelry store — said they bought diamonds that were fake from Mills.
Prosecutors didn’t move forward with charges due to insufficient evidence in May. Officials from the State Attorney’s Office Economic Crime Unit reviewed the case.
Christine Gibson, who said she paid Mills about $14,000 for a fake diamond, filed a civil lawsuit against Mills on June 30, alleging breach of contract, fraud and deceptive trade practices.
