October trials were scheduled Friday for two former Lely High School students charged with robbing and killing an East Naples man in 2009.
Juan Jose Barrientos Jr., 20, and Jesus Rene Garza, 21, both were assigned trial dates beginning the week of October 10 by Collier Circuit Judge Frank Baker.
Investigators said Barrientos and Garza stabbed 51-year-old Roberto Avalos-Jasso in the neck, killed him in a car and dragged his body to a rural wooded area near Six L’s Farm.
The two men went to separate Collier County Sheriff’s Office stations and implicated the other, deputies said.
Both face single charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon.
