Christmas in July

The Bayfront shops and restaurants of Naples are celebrating Christmas in July from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today. At 7 p.m. a drawing for more than $5,000 in prizes and gift certificates will be held, live music will be playing from 6 to 9 p.m., free appetizers will be given away and if you wear red and green you will be able to buy-one-get-one Pinnacle drink at Shane’s Cabana Bar. Dash and dine

The Gulf Coast Runners and Naples On the Run will team up for the Dash and Dine at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Naples On the Run, Gateway Center, 2116 U.S. 41 N. (near Golden Gate Parkway), Naples. The event is a two to three mile run followed by free food from Moe’s Southwest Grill and T.G.I. Friday’s. Free. Information: 434-9786

and accolades

Josh Blank, a recent graduate of Palmetto Ridge High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 25, built a 12 X 14 foot storage shed in Picayune Strand State Forest for the Forestry Department as his Eagle Scout project. The shed will store a large riding lawn mower and protect other equipment. Blank has been a scout since fifth grade.

Elizabeth Lucy Brown, daughter of Deedee and Alan Brown of Naples, has become a member of the national leadership and honors organization Sigma Alpha Lambda at Florida State University. The organization promotes academic achievement and provides members with the opportunities for community service and personal development. Brown is a graduate of Naples High School.

Daniel “Skipper” McShea, son of Dorene and Daniel McShea of Naples, was named to the dean’s list at the University of Notre Dame, Mendoza School of Business. McShea was the valedictorian of the 2008 class of Naples High School.

Sarah Sonny, daughter of Taradath and Parbatie Sonny of Naples, was named tot he 2011 spring semester dean’s list at Emory University in Atlanta.

Emily Treiser, daughter of Donna and Curtis Treiser, was name to the 2011 spring semester president’s honor roll at the University of Central Florida, College of Education.
