Open house

Hope PACE, a program of all-inclusive care for the elderly for residents of Lee and Charlotte counties, is hosting an open house for seniors looking for comprehensive medical care from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at 2668 Winkler Ave., Fort Myers. The program offers home visits, caregiver support and social interaction in its joint Medicare, Medicaid and private pay program. Services are provided in the patient’s home and the center which includes a clinic and day health facility. Reservations are required by calling (239) 985-7789 or at www.hopepace.org

Blood drives

Visit any NCH Community Blood Center fixed site or bloodmobile blood drive through Aug. 31 and you will be eligible to win four two-day adult admission tickets to Bush Gardens with lodging at Wyngate by Windham. Successful donors will receive special gifts. The following are the sites:

Health fair

Naples Urgent Care will host a back-to-school health fair from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, 1713 SW Health Parkway, Naples. The free event will feature a giveaway of 200 backpacks filled with school supplies, school and sports physicals and refreshments. Information: 249-4505

Support group

Family and Friends Dementia Support Group will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. July 27 at Juniper Village at Naples, 1155 Encore Way, Naples. The topic of the meeting is managing challenging behaviors and will be facilitated by Catherine Cruikshank, director of education for the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Free seminars

Physicians Regional Healthcare System will host the following free seminars on July 26 at 8300 Collier Blvd., Education room, First Floor, Naples: 5:30-6:30 p.m., incision-less surgery for severe heartburn and 6:30-7:30 p.m. weight loss surgery options.

A free seminar on the innovations for the treatment of knee pain will be held at 6 p.m. July 27 at 6101 Pine Ridge Road, Naples.

Lois Potter Hill award

Steven Weinman, the executive vice president and chief operation officer of Collier Health Services (CHS), received the Lois Potter Hill award at the annual meeting of the Florida Association of Community Health Centers. The award recognizes individuals for their personal commitment and contribution to the improvement of health, education and social well-being of all individuals.

Increase in funds raised

The American Heart Association, Southwest Florida Division raised a net total of $1,833,000 in 2010-2011. This is a 30 percent increase over last year and the largest annual amount to date.
