Celebrate Chief Thom Carr’s retirement from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, at the Marco Island Historical Museum.
Carr is retiring after 12 years of service to the Marco Island Police Department. Carr was hired in 1999 and is one of seven original members remaining with the department. According to Capt. David Baer of the Marco Island Police Department, Carr was instrumental in constructing the police department from scratch.
Baer said, “While we look forward to the progress and change that we’re embarking on with our new chief, it’s certainly a bittersweet day.”
Soft drinks and appetizers will be served at the event. Donations are appreciated to cover the cost of refreshments and clean-up.
Location: Marco Island Historical Museum, 180 S. Heathwood Dr., Marco Island
