A Golden Gate woman was put in handcuffs by her boyfriend after she cut him with a knife, deputies say.
Janeteria Deserea Mitchell, 20, of the 1900 block of 46th Terrace Southwest, was arrested at home Wednesday by Collier County deputies on a charge of aggravated battery with use of a deadly weapon.
Deputies said when they arrived on scene they found Mitchell’s boyfriend with blood covering his arms and a towel wrapped around his left arm, applying pressure to slow the bleeding.
A large amount of blood was present in the hallway of the home along with a bloody knife and a set of handcuffs that also had blood on it, according to reports.
Mitchell's boyfriend told deputies that she cut him with a knife causing a deep wound that would require stitches to heal. The knife was reported to have a 7-inch blade.
A witness told deputies that he was on the couch when he heard Mitchell’s boyfriend yelling for her to get off of him.
According to reports, Mitchell and her boyfriend were outside when an argument escalated and Mitchell began to shove and hit him several times.
Mitchell’s boyfriend told deputies that in attempt to stop her from hitting him, he held her arms down.
She then went into the kitchen and grabbed a large kitchen knife and cut him on the arm, according to reports.
He also told deputies that he used the handcuffs as an attempt to keep Mitchell from hitting him but denied having any intent to harm her after successfully handcuffing her.
The couple has resided together for two years and has a young child in common.
