Letter to the Editor: Stop playing politics

For too long, Democrats and Republicans have been complacent about the budget and debt issue. No one in Washington wants to make the tough decisions.

Washington does not have a budget in place and they are down to the wire now.

“We the People” are disgusted with the arrogance of both parties. Like spoiled children, the good of the people is ignored and special interest dictate their votes in Congress, the Senate and with this sitting President. The political games played with our tax dollars must stop. At this time, the only reasonable plan on the table is the Cut, Cap and Balance plan. This could be the first step in stopping this runaway train which is operated by our elected officials in Washington.

I would urge Democrats, Republican and Independents to call or write the Senate, the Congress and the President. Ask them to stop playing political games and vote on this real plan to balance the budget.

From what I’ve read, the bill will enable congress to "Lie, Lay Low, and Rock the Status Quo." So I think it should more appropriately be called "Con, Crap and Bull.”

Fossil writes:

The Republicans will not govern. They forgot the meaning of the word compromise. The only plan for jobs they have is to reduce taxes. They will soon be responsible for the mext depression. If you are still considering to vote for those who care not for the country, sign pledges to tie their own hands before they are even confronted with an issue then you had better change channels. Pledges are for those who have no confidence in their own ablilities.

Keynesian stimulus is what we need to restore prosperity!

How about this?

Let's build a new bridge linking Marco Island with Immokolee.

We can build another bridge spanning the island from the East to the West. This way George McGovern could drive from his house to the beach in under 5 minutes....

We need slightly higher taxes on the very rich, starting maybe at $50,000 income.

But no higher taxes for people like George Soros and Jeff Immelt, not for anyone who echoes Obama's policy....

If we gave Nanci Pelosi her private military jet back, that would create at least 11 jobs there!

And what have Democrats learned oh Liberal one?

That Obama can't lead? That Obama didn't change anything? I'm not absolving the Republicans of anything, but you can't blame them while Obama spends money like there is no tomorrow. The only way to fix this is to raise taxes (or at least collect all the taxes the rich are supposed to pay, including Mr. Geithner) and lower spending. There are several social programs that are on an unsustainable pace that we keep borrowing to support. You can't keep propping these up and building the debt and expect our children to pay for these.

Take off your liberal glasses and realize that Obama is also part of the problem. This country needs a leader who will stop blaming others and just get things done. The blame game he plays is politics as usual. We need someone who will stand up and say, "The buck stops here." We need a president who will unite the government and stop this partisan bull carp.
