David T. Tutton faces charges of Medicaid provider fraud and fraud for making a false statement.

An Estero counselor is accused of submitting false medicaid claims.

David T. Tutton, 48, of the 9000 block of Harvestwood Court, Estero, was arrested Thursday and is facing charges of Medicaid provider fraud and fraud for making a false statement.

According to the States Attorney’s Office:

Tutton, a mental health counselor, submitted claims for services on Feb 13, 2007 and on March 31, 2010 for services not rendered.

The Attorney General’s Office was originally looking into Tutton’s claims. They turned the investigation over to the State Attorney’s Office who reviewed it and on July 26th, filed one charge of medicaid fraud of $10,000 or less, which is a 3rd degree felony with a maximum of five years in prison.
