“I did it.” -- Eleven high schools, nine public and two private, bestowed diplomas on more than 2,800 high school seniors Friday night in ceremonies that spanned two counties and included classes as small as seven students (Everglades City School) to classes as large as 479 students (Gulf Coast High School). They received their diplomas in places from gymnasiums (Seacrest Country Day School) and arenas (Barron Collier High School) to the Ave Maria Oratory (Rhodora J. Donahue Academy). Friday night’s festivities saw some students marking the second graduation of a school (Lorenzo Walker Technical High School) while others followed a graduation tradition that has been around as long as there has been a high school in Collier County (Naples High School). Whether headed to college or out into the workforce, each of those seniors walking across the stage Friday night took that diploma and said the same thing:
