Summer means camp at the Marco Island Y

Summer time at the Y also means its Summer Day Camp time! Oh boy, I can hardly wait to get out there with my fellow campers and have a “Funtastic” summer. What was that, Oh, I’ve been told that the camp has an age limit of up to age 12.

Oh well, I’ll still be there as the official photographer and writer of camp doings. Maybe they will let me be in the Tug-O-War like we did last summer. By the way, we won! Summer Day Camp begins June 13 and you can register now for weeks 2 and 3 of Summer Day Camp.

The Y also has a great line up of summer specialty camps that will start in the month of June. They are ...

Gymnastics Camp: Session 1 from June 13 to June 17 for children ages 6 years old and up. Camp will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the camp fee is $5 for Y members and $55 for community members. There is a 8 participant minimum.

Sort-N-Splash Camp: For children ages 6-10 years old. This camp will be held from June 20 to June 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fee for this camp is $80 for Y members and $100 for community members.

Tim Cain Baseball Camp: For children ages 8 to 15 years old. This camp will be held from June 27 to July 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tommie Barfield Baseball Field. Fee for this camp is $100 for Y members and $125 for community participants. There is a 10 participant minimum.

Joe Lyons Roller Hockey Camp: For children ages 4 to 7 years old. This camp will be held from June 27 to June 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fee for this camp is $90 for Y members and $110 for community members. There is a 10 participant minimum and 15 participant maximum for this camp.

Other programs scheduled for the month of June include: Adult Co-Ed Volleyball that starts on June 13, Swim Lessons with Miss Dottie starts June 6 and June 27 and Summer Junior Tennis Clinics all begin on June 13 through June 30.

Programs in July that is now open for registration include: weeks 4, 5 6, 7 of Summer Day Camp, Scott Stewart Basketball Camp, Girls Volleyball Camp, 2 July Sessions of VBS 5Day Club, Session 2 of QuickStart Tennis ,Swim lessons with Miss Dottie and British Soccer Camp. You must register for British Soccer Camp on line at www.challengersports.com.. You can also now register for American Red Cross Saturday Swim lessons at the Y that will begin on July 9.

August Specialty camps now taking registrations include: Cross Country Camp, Session 2 of Gymnastics Camp, Session 2 of Girls Volleyball Camp, Session 2 of Tim Cain Baseball Camp, Session 3 of QuickStart Tennis, Swim Lessons with Miss Dottie and Session 2 of British Soccer Camp
