An inaugural Junior Golf Clinic, featuring Island Country Club golf professionals, begins on Tuesday (June 14).
It is being presented by the Island Country Club Charitable Foundation and the Island Parks and Recreation Foundation.
Michael DeJordy, head professional and Landon Comeau, first assistant, will be the instructors.
The clinic will run three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, through Aug. 11. The clinic will not operate the week of June 28.
The students will receive six hours of instruction each week. Age groupings are 8 to 12 and 13 to 17. Cost is $85 per week. Deadline to register is 4 p.m. the Sunday before each weekly clinic. Participants can sign up in advance for any week or weeks. Parents may register their children in the Pro Shop at Island Country Club, or call 394-3151.
The Island Parks and Recreation is also in the planning stages for the Jolley Be Good 5K, in October or November. The run will involve the new Jolley Bridge.
Terri DiSciullo, foundation president, said, “We have created a fun and challenging run to celebrate the opening of the new span of the bridge leading to Marco. In addition to the 5K there will be a one-mile walk, set up at Veterans Community Park.”
There will be prizes and refreshments. The event awaits Florida Department of Transportation approving a date.
Sponsorships are available now. Sponsorship levels vary from $100 to $500. Checks can be made payable to the Island Parks and Recreation Foundation and mailed to Marco Parks and Recreation Foundation, P.O. Box 195, Marco Island, FL 34146.
