NAPLES — Gulf Coast High School graduate Casey Weston has some fans on the Collier County Commission.
Commissioners gave a shout out to Weston, 18, this morning as the country music singer prepares for her live appearance tonight on NBC's singing contest "The Voice."
"I urge you to support a local student trying to make it in the entertainment business," Commission Chairman Fred Coyle told a crowded hearing room at the start of today's commissioner meeting.
Weston is one of 16 finalists left in the contest, which involves viewers calling toll-free numbers to register their votes for their favorite singer.
"I hope you all vote early and often," Coyle said.
"Because that's allowed," Commissioner Tom Henning said.
"It's allowed, just like in Chicago," Coyle said.
