Florida Gulf Coast University President Wilson Bradshaw has received top marks for another year. As a result of the glowing evaluation from the 11 members of his board gathered Tuesday, Bradshaw is entitled to a 5 percent raise and a $60,000 bonus, according to the terms of his contract.
As of July 1, that will bring Bradshaw’s salary to $358,863.75, plus the $60,000 one-time bonus.
Trustees showered Bradshaw with accolades during his annual evaluation from the board, using superlatives such as “humility” and “a steady hand at the wheel.”
Trustee Chuck Lindsey, the outgoing president of the FGCU Faculty Senate, expressed some qualms about the raise, although he ultimately voted for the increase,.
“I guess I’m sort of conflicted by this, because I don’t think there’s any question the president has met or exceeded his goals,” Lindsey said. “However, much of the discussion around the table today has been about budget challenges.”
Bradshaw’s contract, which includes the promise of the bonus and raise after a satisfactory evaluation, expires in one year. Trustees also voted on Tuesday to enter into negotiations with Bradshaw to extend that contract.
