The Lee County Sheriff’s Office released three photos showing a man and a woman who authorities believe ran up nearly $3,000 in credit card charges after stealing an 85-year-old Estero woman’s wallet.

The pictures show a man wearing glasses and a Wake Forest cap and a woman wearing a blue blouse walking out of the Gulf Coast Town Center Target, where deputies said three purchases totaling more than $1,800 were made using the woman’s credit card. The couple also made two purchases at Best Buy worth about $950.

A Sheriff’s Office report said the elderly woman was at a Publix store in Estero when the suspects engaged her in conversation about pool chemicals she was buying. After walking into the store with the couple, the victim left and later found her wallet missing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 477-1000. To remain anonymous and possibly receive a reward, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
