Collier County Sheriff's Office investigators are on the scene of a fatal shooting in East Naples this morning.

After responding to a report of a shooting in the Holland Street area of Naples Manor at 2:13 a.m. Thursday, deputies discovered one person who was dead and another who was injured. The injured victim was transported to an area hospital.

A crime scene has been cordoned off at Texas Avenue and Fleming Street, where a body is believed to be laying near the street. Two medical examiner's vans arrived at the scene about 9:30 a.m.

Neighbor John Fulkroad said he heard five shots fired quickly about 3:30 a.m. today while making a cup of coffee at his home, located near the corner of Carolina Avenue and Holland Street. Then, a moment later, Fulkroad said he heard three or four shots further down Holland Street. He looked out the window, but did not see anything.

“This neighborhood is usually pretty quiet,” said Fulkroad, who has lived in Naples Manor since 1997. “It’s a good neighborhood.”

Investigators using a metal detector near the corner of Holland Street and Georgia Avenue were seen putting evidence in a bag. A helicopter circling overhead in the area.

Authorities were also called to the 7-Eleven at the intersection of Rattlesnake Hammock Road and U.S. 41 East, just a few miles north of the shooting scene. The focal point of the investigation centered on a silver Chevrolet Silverado parked at the gas station/convenience store, which an employee said he visited, saying he'd been shot, NBC-2 is reporting.

No arrests have been made in the shooting incident.
