NAPLES — A janitor is accused of cleaning out a Naples medical office of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, credit cards and other items.
Colon Marrero, 39, of 2685 47th Ave. NE, Golden Gate Estates, was arrested Tuesday at his home by Naples police detectives and charged with felony grand theft. Marrero is accused of stealing $2,000 worth of Blue Martini gift cards, a 24-karat gold cross necklace, a pair of diamond earrings, designer sunglasses, a watch and $23 dollars in cash, including a $2 bill.
On Feb. 7, Marrero was working as a janitor at the Naples Diagnostic Imaging Center when he was caught on video stealing items from multiple desks in the building, according to the arrest report.
The surveillance video shows Marrero placing the stolen items into a trash can.
When deputies went to Marrero’s house to question him about the thefts, they discovered the $2 bill that had gone missing.
