The City Men’s Softball League remains tight as the season winds down.
Here are the results in order of games played.
Eli’s Contracting, 8, Islander Pool, 0
Charlie Remaks’ three hits, along with Jon Sally, Chris Nygard and Frank Polanco’s two hits each, helped Eli’s defeat the struggling Islander Pool.
Cocomo’s, 18, Marco Island Brewery, 9
Cocomo’s bounced back from only its second loss of the season to defeat the up-and-coming Brewery. Marc Canady had four hits and home runs by Scott Gibbs and Niel Stone were too much for the Brew . The Brew was led by Scott Finch with three hits, including a home run, and two hits, including a home run from Margo Magdalener.
DaVinci’s 14, Joey’s Pizza, 12
With only two games left in the regular season DaVinci’s put itself one half game ahead of Joey’s, and in the hunt for the regular season championship. DaVinci’s would need to win its last two and get some help to move ahead of Cocomo’s. Michael Grazyk, Aaron Neill and Eric Szczepanski each had two hits for DaVinci’s.
Sand Bar, 15, Nacho Mama’s, 14
Sand Bar won its second in a row behind Bobby Natile’s four hits, including a home run. Jason Berning added three hits, with a home run and Paul Thomassen’s two hits. Sand Bar locked up no worse than the No. 4 seed for the tournament. Nacho’s was led by Steve Haidy’s three hits, with a home run, Eric Phillips’ three hits and Anthony Palermo’s two hits, including a home run.
