Collier County sheriff's deputies say they used a Taser on a man who refused to stop while they were running after him Friday.
Ansy W. Pierre, 26, of the 11400 block of Whistlers Cove, East Naples, was charged with fleeing/eluding to obey a law enforcement officer and stop, possessing cocaine, driving with a suspended or revoked license possessing and/or using narcotic equipment and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence.
Deputy Christopher Avery reported seeing a red motorcycle at Southwest Boulevard and U.S. 41 East about 5:40 p.m. Friday, across the street from the entrance to Whistlers Cove Apartments. The deputy said he saw Pierre, who was driving the motorcycle, not wearing eye protection, whic is required under state law.
Avery said he initiated a traffic stop at the apartment complex entrance, activating his lights and siren. Pierre sped away on the motorcycle, eventually jumping off of it and running toward a pond. The deputy said he exited his patrol car and chased Pierre on foot. When Pierre ignored Avery's commands to stop, the deputy said in reports, he deployed one cartridge from his Taser, striking Pierre in his upper left shoulder and back.
Pierre immediately stopped running and fell to the ground.
