— A big game hunter may not be the suspect in the theft of a lion cub Saturday from a Bonita Springs miniature golf course.

Cynthia Buehl, manager of Golf Safari, 3775 Bonita Beach Road, told Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies the yellow resin lion statue was last seen about 10 p.m. Friday, reports show. When Buehl arrived at 7:15 a.m. Saturday for work, she noticed it missing.

It was bolted to the roof of a Jeep on the property. Buehl believes someone jumped the fence to snatch the cub, valued at an estimated $200.
