In a thrilling conclusion to the regular season play, both divisional title games were classics. In the Marco Division, Mutual of Omaha Bank beat CJ’s on the Bay in extra innings. In the Island Division, Cheers rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat Sand Bar to capture the title.

The game was for the Marco Division title and it was a classic.
Both pitchers were having outstanding performances. Dan Callahan for CJ’s and Jerry Garrett for the Bank were outstanding.
CJ’s was holding on to a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the sixth. The Bank then erupted for six runs, with the big blow coming from Buff Morris, a two-run triple. CJ’s came roaring back when Leroy ”Mr. Clutch” Fishleigh walloped a grand slam home run in the seventh and Danny Stanard, who had two RBI in the game, drove in the tying run. CJ’s was held scoreless in the top of the eighth. In the bottom of the eighth Al Bozzo scored the winning run on a base hit from Morris, giving the Bank the Divisional Title
Cheers, 12, Sand Bar, 11
In the championship game for the Island Division, Cheers had to rally twice to win.
Sand Bar opened an 11-4 advantage only to see Cheers score six runs in the eighth inning to make it a one run game, 11-10 going into the final inning.
Sand Bar was held scoreless in the ninth and Cheers was down to its last out. Unfortunately for Sand Bar its defense failed them. The tying and winning runs came across on errant throws.
Dave Banghart had a big day at the plate for Cheers with three hits, including a triple and solo home run. Butch Coursen cracked a two-run triple in the eighth inning, helping lead Cheers comeback. Winning pitcher Ron Engels helped his cause with two RBI. Tom McCullough was the big gun for Sand Bar with four hits, including two triples, good for three RBI. Teammates Jimmy Cuevas and Scott Byers drove in two runs each.
