The woman who died in Thursday's duplex fire in East Naples was positively identified Tuesday by the Collier County Sheriff's Office as Lori Brown, who had turned 52 on March 5.
"We were only able to make a positive ID today, and that was through medical records and a forensic anthropologist," Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Michelle Batten said.
The fire occurred at the duplex at 3197 Gordon St. around 11:30 p.m. Neighbors worried about the fate of Brown after fire crews from East Naples Fire Rescue District doused the flames.
After discovering Brown's body inside the home, the Sheriff's Office is leading the death investigation while the State Fire Marshall's Office is examining the cause of the fire.
Batten said Monday the death investigation was not criminal in nature. Lt. Joe Minervini with the State Fire Marshall's Office said results of the cause of the fire should be coming soon.
