— An Estero man was arrested on a probation violation after deputies found his mother’s car partially-submerged in a lake at Estero Community Park.

Jesse Torres, 26, of the 23000 block of Walden Center Drive, has not been charged in connection with the damage to the soccer fields.

According to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office report:

A woman told dispatchers she’d witnessed a fight and a car was chasing several people Tuesday evening at the park. She also said the car, later identified as a 1989 Ford Taurus, had driven into the lake.

When a deputy arrived, he saw the car partially submerged in the water, and two men arguing. The driver said he and his brother, who was not identified, were playing soccer and they had some problems. He went to get his car, saw the brother get into a fight and drove his car over to the area.

The people “jumped him, and he began chasing the subjects all over the field. He lost control of his vehicle and drove partially into the lake.”

During the chase, a gate was torn off the pole and the soccer field had extensive damage. A park representative estimated the damage exceeded $5,000.

Deputies discovered Torres had a warrant for violation of probation on a petty theft conviction and arrested him. His mother’s car was towed from the scene.
