The Marco Island Chatter Middle School track teams fared well at the Oakridge Middle School meet, even if a number of runners had to leave early.
There was a meeting at the school for the kids making the Washington, D.C. trip on the weekend that had to leave the meet early, which took away some prime time performers.
There still were some standout performances.
The girls finished second, losing first by just eight points.
Rosie Poling won the 800 and 1600 meter races. Jen Carter won the 3200 meter run. Christy Thorstenson and Lauren Hanscom went 1-2 in the 400 meter dash. Hanscom won the 200 meter race and made up nearly 60 yards on the last leg of the 4x400 relay to lose out by a foot, coach Roger Raymond said.
Tanner Fulcher won the boys 800 meter run.
The team doesn’t have a meet until they return from spring break.
