WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The South Florida man accused of a Thanksgiving Day rampage at a relative's home is due in court.

Paul Merhige's attorneys plan to ask a judge Wednesday to delay his scheduled Aug. 8 trial on charges of killing four family members in 2009.

The wife of one of the attorneys has a baby due in August. He plans to take family leave of at least a month.

Because Merhige faces the death penalty, he must be represented by two attorneys.

Prosecutors oppose the trial delay.

Merhige is accused of killing his twin sisters, a 76-year-old aunt, and a 6-year-old daughter of his cousin.
