— When Marco Island police responded to a call of a car overheating and on fire in an alley behind the McDonald’s, they arrived to find a 2000 gold Chevy completely engulfed in flames near a Dumpster, according to reports. A look on the other side of that trash bin revealed a red metal gas can, police said.

Fernando Martinez, 25, of the the 5300 block of Trammel Street in Naples Manor, was arrested by Marco Island police Saturday, accused of arson and using fake personal identification.

Identification inside a bag near the gas can named Martinez, who told police that both the Social Security card and resident alien identification card were fake.

The vehicle is owned by the father, Wenseslao Rocha, of his girlfriend, Graciela J. Rocha,

police said. He stood barefoot as the State Fire Marshal investigated.

They concluded the fire was likely intentionally ignited using gasoline in the inner interior of the vehicle and lit with the use of two vehicle cigarette lighters found in the area of origin, according to reports.

Martinez had a flash burn on his right forearm, investigators said.

Definitely a Golden Gate level master crime.

Perhaps Fernando made a wrong turn on 951?

Gotta give Fernando credit, however, for avoiding all the over-priced sub-prime 'fine-dining' joints down here....
