By mid May most of the snowbirds have flown the coop, and the natives so to speak enjoy the slower pace, ease of traffic and an opportunity to learn to play bridge in a more tutorial fashion.
The Bonita Bridge Club’s summer lessons with Jo Ellen Blanford, the owner of the club, will begin at 9 a.m. Monday and Thursday mornings, while Tuesday and Wednesday mornings will be reserved for the Under 199er game. The Bonita Bridge Club is located in the Lions Club on Pennsylvania Avenue, off Old 41 Road just above Bonita Beach Road.
Jackie Altschuler, manager of the Naples Bridge Center on Golden Gate Parkway, has an ongoing program for those who have taken lessons and now want to play. She is offering an opportunity to practice while having expert help available to answer your questions and offer suggestions during the game. You know those “Should I have,” “Could I have” or “Can I” questions that usually you cannot ask during a regular game. You will play for approximately two hours and may come with or without a partner. This “chat game” is an excellent opportunity to fine tune your partnership or to find a partner who is also interested in learning and improving his or her game.
This chat game is every Wednesday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. and Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m., at a cost of $6 for members and $8 for non-members. No advanced registration is required.
