Collier sheriff invites residents to ‘run for fun’

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office and its Golden Gate road patrol invite residents to join in the inaugural 5K fun run and bike ride on Friday evening.

The event runs from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Golden Gate Community Center, 4701 Golden Gate Parkway. It will feature demonstrations by the Sheriff’s Office’s aviation, bomb squad, K-9, mounted, patrol and SWAT units. Deputies will discuss safety tips and serve free hot dogs and lemonade to participants.

Registration starts at 8 p.m. followed by the 5K fun run/ride at 9 p.m. Entry fee is a suggested $10 donation benefitting the Police Unity Tour. More than 140 people have already signed up.

To pre-register or for more information, contact Community Service Deputy Ellen Loftus at (239) 455-3121, or at ellen.loftus@colliersheriff.org.
