■ The Collier County Sheriff's Office inaugural 5K Fun Run/Ride and Safety Fair is 7:30 to 11 p.m. May 27 at Golden Gate Community Center, 4701 Golden Gate Parkway. Registration for the run/ride will begin at 8 p.m., and the run/ride will start at 9 p.m. Entry fee is a suggested $10 donation benefiting the Police Unity Tour. ■ The Naples Extreme Volleyball Professionals Island Holiday tournament is May 28 at Vanderbilt Beach Park. The tournament starts at 10 a.m., and the entry fee is $200. The tournament purse is $3,000. Contact tournament director Ross Balling at rossballing@evptour.com.

■ The Fort Myers Derby Girls will host their third bout of the home season May 29 at Bamboozles Skating and Events Center, formerly Generations Skating Center, 2095 Andrea Lane, Fort Myers. ■ Join the Fort Myers Recreation Division, the Lee County Chapter of the American Red Cross and American Legion Post 38 on Sunday at Centennial Park beginning at 4 p.m. for “A Tribute to America’s Heroes.” The Tribute will feature a performance by the Calendar Girls, Lee County Sheriff’s Department Rifle Salute and Fly Over, Fort Myers Police Department Color Guard, Dove Release and a Coast Guard Wreath Laying on the Caloosahatchee River.

■ On Saturday at 5 p.m., Grace Lutheran Church at Banyan Boulevard and U.S. 41, a mile south of Coastland Center, will present a prayer, music and worship service "for our country, families and community." Naples Memorial Day ceremony, U.S. Navy Lt. Tim Richardson is the keynote speaker who will give remembrance and special honors to Sgt. Linda L. Pierre, KIA, 8:45 a.m., prelude; 10-11 a.m. formal ceremony by the Collier County Veterans Council, May 30, Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave. N., Naples. Bonita Springs Memorial Day Ceremony, 9 a.m. Riverside Park on Old 41 Road in downtown Bonita Springs.

Marco Island Memorial Day Ceremony, 11 a.m. at Marco Island Cemetery.

■ The Naples-Fort Myers Greyhound Track will host a 16-race Memorial Day matinée program Monday, May 30 that serves as the finale of the 2010-2011 live racing season. Racing begins at 12:15 p.m.

■ The Race Judicata 5K Race will take place Memorial Day, May 30, at North Collier Regional Park on North Livingston Road. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. with day of race registration beginning at 6:30 a.m. Registration fees are $15 before Monday, $20 Monday through May 29 and $25 race day, with students (18 and under) $10 throughout.
