MARCO ISLAND — Speaking to the Marco Men’s Club at their Veterans’ Picnic and Patriotic Day, retired Army Sergeant Major Craig Layton touched on the past, speaking of the origins and history of Veterans’ Day, but his mind was on the present and the future.
“There are many warriors today returning from the field of battle with post-traumatic stress disorder, and they need our help,” he told the group of 126 gathered at Sarazen Park enjoying a picnic lunch and patriotic music from the Marco Island Strummers.
“Our job is to help support them,” and ease their successful re-integration into civilian society. Layton works with Racing for Our Heroes, an organization that allows wounded warriors to get up close and personal with racecar drivers, and experience the thrill of the racetrack.

Hard to overestimate the scintillation of these various shindigs by our Marco Old Mens Club.
How about a recap of this year's riveting hurricane preparedness lecture?
Really, after so many tedious & comatose get-togethers how can any of these guys be sure they are still among the living?
