MARCO ISLAND — They’re only 40 percent Jezebelles now. Bandleader Robyn Fear began seven years ago with an all-girl band, but decided to let the boys play, too. The Fort Lauderdale-based group now known as the Sunset Bay Band plays a regular Friday night gig at Porky’s Last Stand on Marco Island, laying down a mix of rock and roll, pop, reggae, blues and dance tunes.
For Friday’s appearance, guest vocalist Chellie Garcia took the place of regular lead singer Karina Skye in the five-piece lineup, lending her voice to hits including “Is This Love” and “Chain of Fools,” while Fear and lead guitarist Jimi Fiano took turns on songs like “Mustang Sally” and “Can’t You See.”
The crowd of about 100 got out on the dance floor, and the ladies proved once again they are the better dancers, when they can even get the guys up and moving. After finishing the show and packing up their gear, the musicians headed out on the long drive home.
