Lee County had 558 new foreclosure filings in September, up from 519 in August and down from 934 a year ago.
There were 24 commercial filings. Of the residential filings, there were 327 for properties with a homestead exemption and 207 without.
There were 15 deficiency judgments last month, up from two in August, but down from 32 a year ago. With the judgments, lenders in Florida have the legal right to collect the difference between what was owed on a mortgage and the fair market value of the property on the day of the foreclosure auction.
