Stiletto Sprint 2011: Hundreds race in heels for breast cancer awareness

Hundreds of men and women dawned heels of all shapes and sizes for the second annual Stiletto Sprint. Benefitting the Susan G. Komen foundation and the Garden of Hope and Courage, 5th Avenue South was a sea of pink on Friday evening. The race, though only spanning a few short blocks, was an exciting one, heels flew off mid sprint, as the front of the pack charged towards the finish line. Festivities continued through the evening with an after party at Cafe and Bar Lucrat and the Pink is Power street party on 5th.

— Fifth Avenue South was a sea of pink on Friday evening as hundreds of men and women donned heels of all shapes and sizes for the second annual Stiletto Sprint.

More than 250 people registered for the race - part of the Pink is Power street party and first CityFEST event of the fall.

The race, though only spanning a few short blocks, was an exciting one, heels flew off mid sprint, as the front of the pack charged towards the finish line.

Festivities continued through the evening with an after party at Cafe and Bar Lucrat and the Pink is Power street party on Fifth Avenue South.

The event raised nearly $30,000 for breast cancer awareness and research for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Southwest Florida and the Garden of Hope and Courage on the downtown campus of NCH Healthcare System.
