The ex-husband of a missing Cape Coral school teacher, who is presumed dead, was arrested early Monday morning in Okeechobee, according to multiple unnamed law enforcement sources.
Daniel Proctor, 44, is being held in the Lee County Jail without bond on Alabama warrants for grand theft auto and theft of a firearm.
He was sleeping in the reported stolen vehicle, at 3:45 am, when members of the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force approached the vehicle in a hotel parking lot, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported back to Lee County.
The white, Ford Explorer has been impounded and turned over to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Forensics Unit. Meanwhile, the investigation into the disappearance of Amy Patterson continues with no new information for release at this time, according to deputies.
Patterson, a science teacher at Mariner Middle School in Cape Coral, has not been seen since mid to late July. Deputies said she is likely dead, and Proctor is a suspect.
