MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say high winds from a fast-moving squall line damaged two apartment buildings in the Tampa Bay area.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says the roof was completely torn off of Holiday Isles just after 1 a.m. Wednesday. The roof at nearby Palms of Medeira Beach was partially damaged. No one was injured.
The St. Petersburg Times reports 16 people were at Holiday Isles and 12 people were at the Palms when the storm struck.
Officials from the Red Cross were at the scene, helping people displaced by the storm.
The newspaper reports that the storms began rolling in late Tuesday night and dumped about two inches of rain on the area.
