For several months before being shot and killed in July, Christine Moretz had been engaged in a sexual relationship with Christopher Serna, who faces charges on an unrelated murder that officials say happened three weeks after Moretz's death.
New documents obtained Thursday show Serna told detectives he had been carrying on an intimate relationship with Moretz, a co-worker at Cap Ferrat condominium complex, for about six or seven months before her death. Detectives say Moretz's husband, Jeffery, shot and killed her at Physicians Regional -- Pine Ridge on July 5 before turning the gun on himself. Jeffery Moretz survived a gunshot wound to his chin and remains in Collier County Jail on a second-degree murder charge.
Three weeks to the day after Christine Moretz, 53, was killed, detectives say Christopher Serna killed and decapitated Suzanne Bishop, 45. Documents released Wednesday indicate Serna and Bishop had a "fling" but Serna "basically didn't really want her around" anymore, according to Bishop's boyfriend and Serna's uncle, Alexander Amador.
Moretz was killed by a single gunshot wound as she visited a Cap Ferrat co-worker, Michael Camuglia, in the hospital, Collier County Sheriff's Office reports show. Jeffery Moretz came to the hospital armed with two guns and shot his estranged wife, about three weeks after he had filed for divorce.
Records show Christine Moretz had moved out of a Golden Gate Estates home she shared with her husband in April, moving to a Bonita Springs condominium. Jeffery Moretz continued to tell relatives and co-workers he planned to reunite with his wife. Co-workers told detectives that Jeffery Moretz had been stalking his wife after the divorce filing, following her to and from work.
