FWC official describes gator attack
Capt. Jayson Horadam says tragedy averted.
Margaret Webb, the 90-year-old Collier County woman who survived being attacked by an alligator in her Copeland yard, has been released from the hospital.
Lee Memorial spokeswoman Mary Briggs said she was discharged on Wednesday.
Webb’s left leg was severed below the knee on Aug. 31 from an alligator that attacked her in her front yard. She suffered less severe bites on her right leg, according to reports.
Her neighbor rescued Webb and shot the alligator.
She was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital where she remained hospitalized and making a recovery. Hospital officials on Friday could not say anything further about her condition at the time she was discharged or what other therapy she may need.
