NAPLES — Sunday April 1 was no ordinary April Fool’s Day as Collier County’s Sugden Regional Park held the first ever April Fool’s Day Doggie Parade.
Collier County Domestic Animal Services and Parks and Recreation teamed up to create a very unique event. Families and their furry companions were able to enjoy the beautiful weather while their dogs were able to test their athletic ability at the agility course.
Michele Ryan, owner of Train Pawsitive was present to reveal a few of her professional training tips with hands on demonstrations at center stage.
Karen Valerio of Vermont stated “This is such a wonderful idea, I might start an annual doggie parade in my town, there is nothing like this up there”.
At the start of the parade, owners and their pets proudly circled the main stage, pausing for each of the three judges, giving their biggest smile and most impressive tricks.
Vendors included Fergie’s Closet Doggie Boutique, Collier Spay Neuter Clinic, The Pit Bull Crew, Lucky Dog Company, Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida to name just a few.
Fred’s Express prepared what can only be described as some of the best grilled hotdogs and hamburgers, Idaho Pig Stuffed Baked Potatoes and Bratwurst in SW Florida.
