Lee County permits to build homes increased in March over the previous year.
Contractors pulled 34 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at more than $6.1 million, according to Lee County Community Development.
By comparison, 47 permits were issued in February and 25 in March 2011.
Permits for 16 new commercial structures were valued at more than $3 million, compared with $2.6 million in February. In March 2011, commercial permits were valued at $39.9 million, due mostly to Park Royal Hospital, a psychiatric facility valued at approximately $21.8 million in the Health Park medical campus.
