Lee County ranked fifth in Florida for the rate of foreclosed homes in March, RealtyTrac has reported.
A total 1,371 Lee housing units went into foreclosure last month, an increase of nearly 17 percent from February, RealtyTrac — a foreclosure listing firm — reported Thursday.
The study showed Collier had 307 foreclosures, which put the county's state ranking at 42nd (out of 67 total Florida counties). Collier's foreclosures were down 2.5 percent from February to March.
Nationally, the number of homes that received first-time foreclosure notices rose 7 percent in March from the previous month, RealtyTrac Inc. reported. All told, 101,939 U.S. homes received a first-time notice in March, the biggest monthly increase since October, RealtyTrac said.
