Man injured in drive-by shooting, deputies say

A 25-year-old man was hospitalized Wednesday after a drive by shooting in Fort Myers.

Lee County sheriff's deputies arrived to the 4800 block of Hager Court shortly after 2 p.m. and found Devon Eugene Major lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his back, according to an incident report. EMS rendered first aid before Major was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

Witnesses told deputies Major parked his white Cadillac in front of a home on Hager Court just before a silver Nissan Altima came around the cul-de-sac and opened fire on him. Witnesses said two of the four people in the car were shooting at Major, reports said.

Bullets hit parked cars in the yard and others went into the side of the residence. The Nissan fled down Hager Court, turned right on Concourse Drive and off into an unknown direction.

Major was hit once in the back as he ran for cover in the front yard.
