Victim in Tampa Rays pitcher hit-and-run released from hospital

Tony Tufano, 72, the victim in the Rays minor league RHP Matt Bush DUI hit-and-run crash, was released from the hospital today and is home, daughter in law Shannon Moore said.

Tufano is using a walker and will receive home care, with family attorney Richard Hirsch saying there's a "long road" to recovery with "hundreds of thousands" in medical bills. But Moore said the family is excited for Tufano's return.

Bush was arrested Mar. 22 in North Port after police say the Dodge Durango he was driving hit the motorcycle of Tufano and fled the scene. Bush had a blood alcohol level of .180, more than double the legal limit. Tufano was in the intensive care unit of Lee Memorial Hospital for a couple weeks, having sustained injuries such as a collapsed lung, brain hemorrhaging and several broken bones. But Tufano made slow improvements, and was moved into a regular room last week.
